Tokyo and Home... Seventh Leg - Big city days and nights in Tokyo Whether by car or train you've made it back to the part of
Japan where your adventure began. Narita airport is a simply bus or train
ride away and you will soon be flying home. You've seen a lot during your
stay in Japan: from the modern skyline and futuristic dreams of Yokohama, to the
beauty and peace of quiet villages on the Izu peninsula. You've stayed in
fancy hotels as well as modest traditional inns. You've seen Mt. Fuji from
the tossing deck of a ship at sea and perhaps from the window of a speeding bullet
train. Your visit to Kyoto and surrounding cities helped you to understand
the history and arts of this ancient culture, and your visit to Hiroshima showed
how a once warlike people have become great proponents of peace. We hope
that you liked the food, and sampled as much new and interesting cuisine as
possible. We suspect that you will now feel more comfortable than ever
when you pick up a menu at your local Japanese restaurant back home.
Though sadly, green tea outside Japan will likely forever fail to impress after
you've sampled the famous tea of Shizuoka. Is your adventure over?
Probably not, as your schedule should allow you a few days to explore and enjoy
Tokyo. This city is immense and includes more things to see and do than
anyone could hope to catalogue completely. However, by now you have become
what we residents in Japan call an "old Japan hand" and
